Harrup Jr., 71, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly Oct. 3, 2004. A lifelong Southampton County farmer and Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a son of the late Charlie Goodman Harrup Sr. and Edna Velvin Harrup. He was a member of Joyner United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of nearly 48 years. Jean Journigan Harrup; a daughter, Debbie H. Dunn, and husband Steve of Capron; two sons, Stephen Harrup and wife Heike of Fairfax, Va., and Brian Harrup and wife Rhonda of Capron; a sister Charlotte Wells of Smithfield; two brothers, John Robert Harrup and wife Louise of Courtlalnd and Kurt Harrup and wife Ann of Lynchburg, Va.; and six grandchildren, Kristin, Dunn, Andrea Harrup, Cameron Harrup, Chelsea Harrup, Lindsey Harrup and Braxton Harrup. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Joyner Cemetery.
