Born Dec. 27, 1920 in Yale, he was a lifelong resident of Sussex County and graduated from Sussex High School in 1939. Mr. Harrup was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who served from August 1945 through December 1946 and was with General MacArthur's headquarters in Tokyo. He was a charter member of Joyner-Gray-Yale Ruritan Club, a charter member of Sussex County Planning Commission and was a member of the American Tree Farm System. Mr. Harrup was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he had served as clerk and had been a CED of both Sussex and Southampton counties.
