John O. "Jack" Haslett Jr., 65, of the 400 block of Sycamore Road, a retired engineer, died July 28, 1991, in a hospital. 

Mr. Haslett was born in Franklin. He had retired from the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church and the Franklin Volunteer Fire Rescue Department. He was the widower of Bertie Magette Haslett. 

Survivors include a daughter, Betsy H. Fechteler of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Carolyn H. Harrison of Lancaster, Pa.; and one grandchild. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Samuel Askew. Friends may join the family at the residence. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Fire Rescue or to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church building fund.
