Bertie May Hill, 89, was called home to be with the Lord on June 25, 1998.
  She was the widow of the late John Henry Hill Sr. and preceded in death by three brothers, William, Russell, and Marshall Lowe; and two sisters, Kathy Lowe and Kent Bradshaw.
  Survivors include three daughters, Marian Tarkington, Clara Harrison and Janet Warren, all of Tidewater; a son, John Henry Hill Jr. of Lynchburg; a sister, Nellie B. Knapp and a brother, Jessie Lowe, both of Ivy, Va.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two longtime special friends, Mike Capps and Jim Deems.
  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Beaver Dam Church Cemetery, Carrsville, with Thomas E. Snowdon, a grandson, officiating. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
