Obituary of Sarah Vaughan Hill SARAH ANN VAUGHAN HILL Virginian Pilot - 01-28-2005 FRANKLIN - Sarah Vaughan Hill, 94, widow of Edward Carson Hill, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Conway, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Thomas and Sarah Ann Johnson Vaughan. During World War II, she worked for the Navy at the Norfolk Naval yard and retired from Belo Stores. Following retirement, she attended Paul D. Camp Community College and became a private duty nurse's aide. At age 87 she nursed a patient who was 101 and continued to enjoy her work. Mrs. Hill was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Leigh Kitchen of Norfolk and Peggy H. Toler and husband David of Franklin; 12 grandchildren, Joni Jarvis, June Zinner, Luther Kitchen, Patricia Howell, William Carson Hill, James Keith Hill, Dennis Wayne Hill, Julie R. Pope, Jennifer B. Pitts, Joye G. Raikes, Janine G. Clifford and Kristin Lowe; 20 great-grandchildren, Taffany Lewis, Corey Lewis, Christopher Jarvis, Taylor Jarvic, Joshua Zinner, Chelsea Zinner, Wendy Bosley, Eric Hill, Cameron Hill, Steven Hill, Lindsay Hill, Gregg Hill and Roy Hill, Stefan Turner, Matthew Joyner, Joseph Joyner, Trevor L. Duke, Tyler S. Raikes, Benjamin Carson Hill and Bryan A. Clifford; and two great-great-grandchildren, Patrick Bosley and Alexi Sierra Joyner, Mrs. Hill was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Lee Darden and a son, Roy Carson Hill. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James Hyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to Franklin Congregational Church, 412 N.
