Obituary of Tommy Dolving Hobbs TOMMY DOLVING HOBBS Virginian Pilot  08-10-2001 SUFFOLK  Tommy Dolving Hobbs, 67, died Aug. 9, 2001. Born Aug. 8, 1934 in Gates County, N.C. , he was the son of the late Percy Dolving and Eva Barnes Hobbs and was predeceased by his son, Walter D. Hobbs and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Sarah and Clara Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs was retired from the Virginia Employment Commission. He was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church, the church choir, and the Layman Sunday School class and was a former deacon. He was a former member of Commonwealth Chorus. Mr. Hobbs served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bass Hobbs; sons, Martin Thomas Hobbs and Stephen Patrick Hobbs, both of Suffolk; grandchildren, Benjamin Patrick Hobbs and Anna Elizabeth Hobbs; sister, Barbara H. Blanchard of Sunbury, N.C.; brother, James Hobbs of Hobbsville, N.C. and Edward Hobbs of Virginia Beach. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilroy Baptist Church by the Rev. Carter Dey. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co.
