Obituary of Mary Edith Cobb Holland MARY E. HOLLAND Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 25, 2001 Mary Edith Cobb Holland, 94, widow of Timothy Hayes Holland, died Feb. 24, 2001. Mrs. Holland was born June 23, 1906, in Southampton County, a daughter of the late Thomas Madison and Nina Holland Cobb. She was a graduate of Chowan College and Farmville State Teachers College. She taught school in North Carolina and Franklin public schools. She was the oldest living member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, where she was a faithful and devoted member who taught the Connie Beale Bible class for many years, was a member of the church choir and directed the children's choir for many years. She was a charter member of the Franklin Literary Club, Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Smith Ferry Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed playing bridge. Survivors include a niece, Page Cobb Parker and husband, Elliott, of Courtland; a nephew, Robert C. Cobb of Franklin; a great-nephew, W. Clay Parker of Vancouver, Wash.; and two great-nieces, Jane Elliott Parker of Charlottesville and Nancy Page Parker of Courtland. She was predeceased by a brother, Clayton Thomas Cobb. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren with burial in Poplar Springs Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the home of Bobby Cobb, Mary Edith's birthplace, 32450 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N.
