He was born April 4, 1938, in Nansemond County and was the son of the late George Edward and Dorothy Johnson Holland. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Ingeborg I. Holland of Feeding Hills, Mass.; four daughters, Cindy H. Council and her husband, Will, of Franklin, Robin L. Salmon and her husband, Tommy, of Suffolk, Linda M. O'Connell and Brenda M. O'Connell; a son, Robert R. O'Connell and his wife, Tamara, all of Massachusetts; a brother, Elvers H. Holland and his wife, Margaret, of Holland, Va.; and nine grandchildren, W. Travis Councill, R. Wade Councill, Becky L. Salmon, Chelsey W. Salmon, Felicia I. O'Connell, Megan I. O'Connell, Kyle R. O'Connell, Matthew S. Weir and Ashley M. Weir. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen H. Bishop, formerly of Franklin, and a brother, George Edward Holland Jr., formerly of Portsmouth. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Cindy and Will Councill, 151 Bobwhite Lane, Franklin.
