Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 5, 2001 

William H. Holt Jr., 86, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Born in Southampton County July 17, 1915, he was a son of the late William H. Holt and Maggie Adcock Holt. He was a general contractor and builder, and a member of Corinth Friends Meeting where he was the chairman of building and grounds for many years. 

Mr. Holt is survived by his loving wife, Louise Lowe Holt; four daughters, Rebecca H. Duvall and Toni H. Farrenkopf, both of Suffolk, Brenda H. Mathews of Carrollton and Donna H. Chesson of Zuni; two brothers, Douglas Duke Holt of Crescent City, Fla. and Fenton Bryant Holt of Lugoff, S.C.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Holmes Wetherald and a brother, Charles Lindsey Holt. 

A funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Ken Thames. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the family home, 15448 Corinth Road, Ivor. Viewing will be at the funeral home Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
