Ethel Marie Bailey, 70, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, died Sept. 27, 1999, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mallory and Rosa Turner Holt and the widow of Robert Granville Bailey Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Bernard ``Jack'' Holt and his wife, Jennie, of Wakefield and Robert G. Bailey III and his wife, Kelly, of Sedley; four brothers, Joe H. Holt of Courtland, Frank Holt of Disputanta, Willie Holt and Earl Holt, both of Prince George; eight grandchildren, Charles Bailey, Michael Bailey, Chris Holt, Casey Bailey, Kim Holt, Ashley Avent, Candice Bailey and Robert G. Bailey IV. She was predeceased by two brothers, Pat Holt and Clarence Holt.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Forks of the River Community House with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Community House and other times at 29302 Unity Road, Sedley. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge.
