Obituary of Lacy Alfred Howard LACY ALFRED HOWARD Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, April 14, 2003 FRANKLIN - Lacy Alfred Howard, 77, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Bertie County, N.C., he was a son of the late Willie J. and Mary Colson Howard and was the widower of Evelyn Bryant Howard. Lacy was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired machinist with Stone Container Corporation, and a Baptist. Survivors include a sister, Ruth H. Meade; four sisters-in-law, Janie Griffin, Jackie McGhee, Irma Howard and Barbara Babb, all of Franklin; a special friend, Nelsie Councill of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Edith H. Nicholson and three brothers, John, Roy and Vernon Howard. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park .
