Obituary of Josephine Stephenson Howell JOSEPHINE S. HOWELL Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 7, 1999 Josephine Stephenson Howell, 92, of the 26000 block of Dogwood Bend Road and the widow of Dewey Howell, passed away Friday, March 5, 1999. Mrs. Howell was born in Hertford County, N.C., a daughter of the late James Harvey and Nora Griffith Stephenson. She was a longtime resident of the Franklin and Southampton County community and was a longtime member of Franklin Baptist Church where she was active in the Kings Servants Sunday School Class, Sallie Ray Camp Circle and numerous committees. She was a charter member of the Forks of the River Home Demonstration Club and the High Street Senior Citizens. Mrs. Howell loved to travel, play bridge, go fishing and she enjoyed people. She was a cherished matriarch of a large extended family for which she loved and cared. She touched many lives. Survivors include her four daughters and their spouses, Betty and Steve Cauley, Lynda and Ed Bond, Peggy and Earl Johnson and Amelia and Everett Spivey; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Donna Cauley, Renee and Rusty Rains, Kathy and Tony Fatico, Karen and Suzan Bond, Elizabeth Graff, Ben, Joseph and Gwen Johnson, Meadow and Craig Kelly, Holley, Kim and Angie Blythe; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two infant daughters. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roy E. DeBrand and the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Family and friends may come by Mrs. Howell's home during the day today and the next week. Memorial donations may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N.
