SUFFOLK  Myrtle Howell King, 89, died March 8, 2001, in Tandem Healthcare.
  She was a native of Gates County, N.C., and retired after 30 years as a lab technician for Planters. She was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church and the Ladies Bible Class. She was the daughter of the late Robert R. Howell and Mary Frances Lilley. She was also predeceased by a son, Walter Steven King.
  Survivors include a daughter, Lucille Robertson of Windsor, Va.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and five sisters, Annie Mary Brinkley of Newport News, Alease Neblett of Waverly, Va., Woodbury Spencer of Virginia Beach, Frances Crusenbury of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Margaret Rountree of Suffolk.
  A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cypress Chapel Christian Church by Dr. John R. Kimball and Dr. Willis I. Dowling.
