Elsie Howell Blythe died July 13, 2001, in Franklin. Mrs. Blythe was born May 14, 1912 in Nansemond County, a daughter of the late William Henry and Clara Mae Harrell Howell. She was a member of the Hunterdale United Church of Christ. 
   Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Elmo U. Blythe; two daughters, Cheryl B. Hansford of Courtland and Joan B. Cobb of Franklin; three sons, Harold U. Blythe of Walters, Chester E. Blythe of Fredericksburg and S. Dwight Blythe of Franklin; a sister, Elaine H. Gardner and a brother, Ernest Ray Howell, both of Franklin; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers. 
   A funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Denise Smelley officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park , Franklin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hunterdale United Church of Christ, 741 Hunterdale Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
