Sol Lynch Rose, 72, of 112 Country Club Road, died Jan. 17, 1996, at Sentara Norfolk General.
Mr. Rose was a native of Franklin and was the son of the late F. Paul and Linda Sue Beale Rose. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by a brother, F. Paulette Rose. Mr. Rose was retired as assistant superintendent of automotive maintenance for Union Camp Corporation. He was a member of Sedley Baptist Church, former charter member of Wilroy Baptist Church in Suffolk, and former member of Franklin Baptist Church. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and longtime member of Hunterdale Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for many years and helped form their first Junior Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Howell Rose; three daughters, Linda R. Smith and her husband, Kirby, of Richmond, Betty R. Whitenack and her husband, Ron, of Newport News, and Sue Ann Raiford and her husband, Donnie, of Sedley; two sons, Richard P. ``Dick'' Rose and his wife,Rita, and R. Keith Rose and his wife, Minnie, all of Franklin; five grandsons, Rob Smith, Cameron Holland, Joey Rose, Ron Whitley, Brian Rose; two granddaughters, Kendall Smith and Kristen Rose; two nieces and two nephews; and a host of special friends and neighbors.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Sedley Baptist Church by the Rev. David Johnson, Dr. Ira Hudgins and the Rev. Harry Wellons. The burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests that memorials be made to the Hunterdale Volunteer Fire Department, Franklin Fire and Rescue, or Sedley Baptist Church. Wright Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
