Obituary of MARGARET BUTLER TROTMAN HUTTON Virginian Pilot  11-13-1996 VIRGINIA BEACH  Margaret Butler Trotman Hutton, 86, of the 3100 block of Shore Drive, died Nov. 12, 1996. She was born in Franklin Nov. 22, 1909, to Mary Patience Butler and Emerson Pelham Trotman and was the widow of Judge John K. Hutton, whom she married April 24, 1941. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Trotman, and her son, John Kendrick Hutton, Jr. She lived in Suffolk until the age of 16, when her family moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. She graduated from Meredith College, taught public school music for one year in Beaufort, then returned to Suffolk. During the Depression, Mrs. Hutton traveled throughout the Northeast directing local community shows. Returning to Suffolk she served as Suffolks deputy city treasurer. Mrs. Hutton was an active member of West End Baptist Church, Suffolk. She moved to Westminster Canterbury when it opened in 1980, and was an active member in the community. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Pelham Hutton White of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Lewis Richard White and Ann Kendrick White; a nephew, Robert B. Trotman, Jr.; a first cousin, Mary Holmes Butler Shaffer; and several grandchildren by marriage. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, by Dr. Donald J. Dunlap and the Rev. Allen Johnson. A memorial service will be conducted in Westminster Canterbury Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Johnson and Dr. Dunlap. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co.
