He was born in Alabama and lived in Scarsdale, N.Y., before moving to Marlboro, N.J., seven years ago. He was a graduate of Auburn University where he earned his degree in electrical engineering. His wife, Sherwood Jones Jager, formerly of Franklin, died in 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Jager Thompson of Denver, N.Y.; two sons, Robert T. Jager of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Sherwood L. Jager of Fairfax, Va.; a brother, Charles R. Jager of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Virginia Ball and Dorris Smith, both of Jackson, Miss.; and two grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by Dr. Ira D. Hudgins.
