Born Aug. 1, 1945, in Danville, Va., he was the son of the late Elmer Thorne and Mary Elizabeth Deacon Jakeman. Elvin was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his aunts, Vera Bright of Suffolk, Louise Christianson of Danville; and a number of cousins. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Robert L. Parks with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
