Obituary of Edward Lewis Johnson EDWARD LEWIS JOHNSON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, July 5, 2002 Edward L. Johnson, 86, died July 3, 2002, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Nonie Fuller Johnson and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Johnson was a retired machinist with St. Regis Paper Co. and a member of Suffolk Moose Lodge. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy J. O'Berry and husband Billy of Franklin; a son, Edward L. Johnson Jr. and wife Nancy of Franklin; five grandchildren, Gene, Mark and Mike O'Berry, Tammy J. Peden and Michael Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by three wives, Mary, Florence and Lillie Mae; eight brothers and a sister. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
