Curtis Johnson, 78, of the 1200 block of Westpoint Drive, co-founder of J & E Auto Supply Co., died Feb. 11, 1992, in a hospital. Mr. Johnson was born in Suffolk. He was one of the founders of the Bank of Suffolk, where he served as secretary and was on the board of directors. He had served on the Suffolk City School Board for five years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Main Street, Suffolk Elks Lodge 685, Travelers Protective Association Post P., Khedive Temple and Virginia Automotive Wholesale Association. He was first commander of Nansemond River Power Squadron and was a member and post master of Hiram Masonic Lodge 340. Survivors include his wife, Mae Williams Johnson; two sons, Fred C. Johnson of Lynchburg and Douglas W. Johnson of Suffolk; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church Main Street by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.today in Hill Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
