Obituary of JAMES CLEE JOHNSON JR. The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, September 15, 1995 J.C. Johnson Jr., 73, of the 23000 block of Calvin Drive, died Sept. 14, 1995. Mr. Johnson was a longtime resident of Handsom and was the son of the late James Clee and Pearl Ritter Johnson. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. He had retired from farming and from the Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Bailey Johnson; two daughters, Terry J. Bell and husband, Stan, of Franklin, and Betty J. Pendley and her husband Nate, of Clemmons, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby J. Wiggins and Shirley J. Mason, both of Richmond; five grandchildren, Chris Bell, Betsy Bell, Elizabeth Pendley, Nicholas Pendley, and Katie Pendley. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by two brothers, Luke and Boots Johnson. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Southampton Memorial Park , by the Rev. Derrick Koolman and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. The family will receive friends at the residence, and suggest memorials be made to Mt. Horeb V.M.C., c/o Mrs. James Bryant, 25165 Gen.
