Margaret Clayton Johnson, 78, died April 22, 1992, in a Newport News hospital. 

Mrs. Johnson was born in Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Windsor Baptist Church and Windsor Woman's Club. She was the widow of W. Russell Johnson. 

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy J. Barrett of Winter Park, Fla.; a sister, Mildred C. Griffin of Windsor; a brother, John R. Clayton of Smithfield; and three grandchildren. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Windsor Cemetery by the Rev. Dale J. Lee. Friends may join the family at 34 N. Court St. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling arrangements. 

Memorial donations may be made to the church's memorial fund or to Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
