Obituary of SIDNEY McCOY JOHNSON SR. The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - January 15, 1995 Sidney McCoy Johnson Sr., 77, of 456 E. Main Street, died January 13, 1995. A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Ryland Claude and Mittie Powell Johnson and the widower of Nancy Hyatt Johnson . Mr. Johnson had retired from the Suffolk Lumber Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. Survivors include three daughters, Janie J. Lovorn of Petersburg, Brenda J. Wills of Windsor, Ruth Elaine Johnson of Suffolk; one son, Sidney M. Johnson , Jr. of Clinton, MS ; three sisters, Mildred Wyatt of Portsmouth, Orie Griffin of Suffolk, Dorothy Dunn of Norfolk; one brother Irving R. Johnson of Mohnton, PA; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P. M . in First Baptist Church, N. Main Street, Suffolk by the Revs. Steve Bradshaw, Tom Lovorn, and Andy Madsen. Burial will be in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R. W. Baker & Co.
