Peggy Talley Johnson Ashley , 65, died Feb. 6, 2002. Born in Murfeesboro, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Paul Alexander Talley Sr. and Clara Curtis Culley Talley. A homemaker, she worked for six years in the Snack Bar of Southampton Memorial Hospital and was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Wiley Andrew "Doug" Ashley Sr.; a daughter, Clara Y. Duke and husband Buckley of Black Creek, Va.; a son, William B. "Bootie" Johnson and wife Florence of Sedley; stepchildren, Wiley A. Ashley Jr. and wife Patty of Franklin, N.C., Timothy K. Ashley of Roxboro, N.C., and Terry Freeman of Durham, N.C.; a brother, Robert H. Talley and wife Judy of Seneca, S.C.; grandchildren, Billy Duke and wife Stephanie of Franklin, Michael Duke and wife Fran of Franklin, Christopher Johnson and Amber Johnson, both of Sedley; stepgrandchildren, Crystal, Jenny, Andrea and Taylor, all of North Carolina; and a beloved, dear friend, Barbara Byrd of Roxboro, N.C. She was predeceased by her first husband, William H. Johnson; a sister, Nancy L. Davis; and three brothers, Paul A., Bart R., and James D. Talley.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rosemont Cemetery with the Rev. Elizabeth von Trapp Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
