JEWELL CHAPMAN JONES

FRANKLIN - Jewell Chapman Jones, 83, died Sept. 29, 2005, at Chesapeake
General Hospital. A native of Beckley, W.Va., she was a daughter of the
late Walter and Ora Kasey Chapman and the widow of Victor "Pee Wee"
Jones. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include four daughters, Ora May Cline of Littleton, N.C.,
Patricia Jones Murray of Camden, N.C., Alice Faye Oberman of
Mountainside, N.J., Jewell Elizabeth Phipps of Chesapeake; three sons,
Ray Newton Chapman of Franklin, Richard E. Jones of Beckley W.Va., and
Victor J. Jones of Suffolk; one sister, Nellie Louise Johnson of
Courtland; one brother, Walter V. Chapman of Beckley; 21 grandchildren;
and 20 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by three sisters,
hazel Whittington, Violet McDowell and Faye Hopkins; and four brothers,
Vernon, Roy, Joe and Willie Chapman.

A funeral will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wright
Funeral Home, Franklin. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the
Funeral Home.
