RUBY LEE JONES LASSITER

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, October 22, 2001 

Ruby Lee Jones Lassiter, 86, of the 12000 block of Camp Pond Road, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 20, 2001. 
   She was a Christian and a homemaker. Born in Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mamie R. Jones and the widow of Claude E. Lassiter Sr. 
   Survivors include two daughters, Onella Lassiter of Suffolk and Kathryn Lassiter Cutchins and her husband Rochelle of Franklin; two sons, Claude Lassiter Jr. of Suffolk and Glenn Lassiter of Martin, Pa.; a sister, Helen J. Moreland of Smithfield; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Lassiter. 
   She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 
   A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Wayne Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggest that memorials be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439 or Black Creek Baptist Church, 34163 Vicksville Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
