Obituary of Ruby Lamb Jordan RUBY LAMB JORDAN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, July 25, 1998 Ruby Lamb Jordan, 81, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, died July 23, 1998. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Rena Whitehead Lamb, and the widow of Joe Thomas Jordan Sr. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A graduate of Capron High School, she was a basketball player and valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Jordan was a dedicated member of Courtland Baptist Church, Sebrell Bible Class, Elizabeth Edwards Prayer Group and the Woman's Missionary Union. She was an avid listener. Survivors include her son, Joe Thomas Jordan Jr. and his wife, Patricia Street; two daughters, Louise Jordan Harrup and her husband, John Robert Harrup, Beth Jordan Gray and her husband, James Carlton Gray, all of Courtland ; six grandchildren, Joe Thomas Jordan III of Sedley, Michael Dean Jordan of Richmond, Sharon Louise Harrup of Blackstone, Janice Harrup Tawney of Franklin, James Carlton Gray Jr. of Courtland and Melinda Gray Darden of Emporia; seven great-grandchildren, Whitney, Tiffany, Jacob and Jesse Jordan, Jordan Belle Tawney, Storm and Colby Gray; and two sisters, Lillian Lamb Parker of Franklin and Willie Lamb Ball of Durham, N.C. All family members and friends were very special to her. She was predeceased by Annie McCann, Johnny Lamb, Dollie Byrd, Mae Lamb, Daisy Parker and George Lamb. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Courtland Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas R. Speight. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery .
