Obituary of James Charlie "J.C." Joyner JAMES C. JOYNER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - June 6, 2000 James Charlie ``J.C.'' Joyner, 78, died June 4, 2000, in Obici Hospital. A lifelong resident of Southampton County and a retired farmer, he was a son of the late Charlie J. and Dana Cutchins Joyner. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Joyner was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Bruner Bible Class, the Forks of the River Ruritan Club and Forks of the River Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Edith Brittle Joyner; three sons, Robert Glenn Joyner and his wife, Vickie, Joseph Charles Joyner Sr. and his wife, Sandy, and David Lee Joyner and his wife, Chrissy, all of Franklin; five grandchildren, Amy O'Berry and her husband, Mike, James Preston ``J.P.'' Joyner, Joseph Charles ``Jay'' Joyner Jr. and his wife, Nicole, David Michael ``Deke'' Joyner and Lindsay Joyner; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Cole O'Berry. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Lee Joyner. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roy E. DeBrand and the Rev. Sharon E. James officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
