Obituary of Marion Ryvers Joyner Jr. MARION RYVERS JOYNER JR The Tidewater News - 12-29-2005 RICHMOND - Marion Ryvers "Red" Joyner, Jr., 72, died peacefully at his home in Richmond Dec. 26. A native of Courtland, he was the son of Helen Nance Joyner and Marion Ryvers Joyner Sr. Mr. Joyner attended college at VPI and Georgia Tech. He was a sales Represcentative for Southern States Cooperative and served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a sergeant during the Korean War. Before his illness, he was an active volunteer with Big Brothers of Richmond. Survivors include his wife, Vonne Yeatts Joyner; sister, Gladys Joyner Wright and husband William of Warsaw, Va.; children, Lori Guidry of High Springs, Fla., Sherri Douthat of Richmond, Marion Ryvers Joyner "Trey: III and Christoper Marshall Joyner, both of Goochland; two grandsons and one granddaughter; a niece and three nephews. A funeral service was held at Bliley Funeral Homes' Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Dec. 29 followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.
