Minnie Joyner Billups, 74, a lifelong resident of Zuni, died Jan. 4, 2001. Born Feb. 20, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Leonard A. and Anna Britt Joyner, and wife of the late Jasper Joe Billups. A member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, she was known to her family and friends as a loving, caring mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her son, James Robert Billups and wife, Rachel, of Zuni; three grandchildren, Jay Billups and wife, Stacey, Cindy B. Faison and husband, Kent, and Tom Billups; two sisters, Mildred J. Wilcox of Florida and Margaret Gordon of Zuni; a brother, J. Tom Joyner of Windsor; and four stepbrothers, Harold Bowden of Windsor, Elbert Bowden of Wakefield, Augustine Bowden of Carrollton and Danny Bowden of Florida.
A graveside service will be held at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Zuni, Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Marshall Kurfees and the Rev. Curt Faison officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service and at other times at the residence of Jimmy and Rachel Billups, 8145 Raiford Drive, Ivor.
Memorial donations may be made to Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, ''Together We Build'' Fund, Zuni, VA 23898. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling arrangements.
