ELLA MAE KING LAWRENCE

Ella Mae King Lawrence, 71, widow of Louis Lawrence, died June 10, 2004,
at her residence. A native of Como, N.C., she was a daughter of the late
James Herman King and Delphine Davis King Bryant. She was co-owner of
Lawrences Garage and a former employee of Bond Cleaners, but mainly was
a military wife.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda S. Griggs of Lititz, Pa., and
Robin Gaye Spear of Franklin; two sons, James Louis Lawrence of
Petersburg and Louis Edward Lawrence of Aberdeen, Md.; three sisters,
Ann Story of Franklin, Helen Crowel of Midwest City, Okla. and Joyce
Pope of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Derek, Brandon and
Brittany Griggs, Kem Lawrence, Alysha Lawrence, Leanna Spear, Jeremy
Lawrence, Randy and Jamie Lawrence; two great-grandchildren, Emily
Griggs and Caitlyn Clair; and two special caregivers, Linda Person and
Selena Everett. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lawrence
was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Lawrence, a granddaughter, Angela
Lawrence, a sister, Susan Davidson and a brother, James H. King Jr.
A funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wright
Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will
follow at Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
