Mildred L. ''Red'' Harrell, 82, died Jan. 18, 1997, in Nansemond Pointe Nursing Center. 
She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late W. Burgess and Zuzie Pierce Harrell. She was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, where she was a former president of the Sally B. Powell Bible Class. She retired from Peoples Drug Store in 1977 and had formerly worked at the Travel Rest Diner for 15 years and the Joseph P. Hall Drug Store. 
Survivors include a sister, Marjorie H. Tweedy of Rustburg; and two nephews. 
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. David M. Jendrey. Burial will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery.
