Mr. Fisher was born in Courtland July 17, 1921, a son of the late Lawrence John Fisher and Helen Owens Fisher of Franklin. He was an Eagle Scout at the age of 14. Mr. Fisher graduated in the class of 1942 from Washington and Lee, he was a member and president of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and captain of the baseball team. Mr. Fisher served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as an officer and a bomber pilot. Following his Air Corps service, he began his career in the textile industry working for Miliken and Company. Mr. Fisher retired from Wellman Industries in 1991. He was the widower of Louise Armstrong Fisher of Greenville, S.C. Surviving are four sons, Lawrence John Fisher, III of Charlotte, N.C., Frank Armstrong Fisher of Pawley's Island, James Hagood Fisher of Greensboro, N.C. and George Lenoir Fisher of Richmond; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at the graveside in All Saints Church Churchyard, Waccamaw, Pawley's Island. Burial was under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
