Effie Burgess Lee, 72, died June 20, 1992, in a hospital. 

Mrs. Lee was born in Southampton County. She was former secretary and treasurer of J.H. Lee & Sons Inc. and was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her husband, James H. Lee Jr.; two sons, James H. Lee III of Courtland and Donald J. Lee of Franklin; a brother, Claude C. Burgess of Courtland ; and five grandchildren. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. Gary Powell. Memorial donations may be made to the church or to Courtland Fire and Rescue Squad. Friends may join the family at the residence. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is handling arrangements.
