Obituary of LeRoy “Roy” Alexander Livesay ROY LIVESAY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 20, 1999 LeRoy ``Roy'' Alexander Livesay, 82, died March 19, 1999, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born March 17, 1917, in Marlington, W.Va., he was a son of the late Clarence K. and Lena Mae Hardbarger Livesay. A retired machine tender with Union Camp Corp., he was a battalion sergeant major in the National Guard, an honorary life member of the Sedley Ruritan Club and three times named Ruritan of the Year. He had received his 15th year AA chip. Mr. Livesay was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church in Sedley, where he was a former superintendent of the Sunday School and a former trustee. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mildred McGuffin Livesay; four daughters, Sheila L. Jackson of Greenville, S.C., Tobey L. Edwards and her husband, Gene, of Sedley, Mary L. Hunter and her husband, Alton, of Savannah, Ga., and Rebecca L. Simmons and her husband, Curt, of Richmond; a son, Michael L. Livesay and his wife, Sylvia, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Nettie Fox of Crofton, Md., and Ernestine Hodges of Covington, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Vince and Evan Harris, Ambra and Andrew Bridges, Renee and Michael Edwards, Jennifer and John Bolt III, Robin Livesay, Casey Barrows and Rebecca Simmons; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan Vann, Colby Edwards, Mandi Edwards, Michael, Mason and Michele Vanfossen and Elizabeth Bolt. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel McCrory and Evelyn Stuart, and a brother, Harry Livesay. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Grace Memorial United Methodist Church, Sedley, by the Rev. James M. Smith. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
