BOYKINS - Marion Louise Woodard, 86, died Monday, June 15, 1998, in Franklin.
Born Nov. 4, 1911 in Northampton County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Roy Thomas and Mary Johnson Woodard and the widow of Harry Garland Woodard. She was a graduate of Chowan College, a member of Boykins Baptist Church and was a retired public school teacher. Her teaching career included teaching seventh grade in Northampton County schools and she retired in 1975 after 26 years as a fourth grade teacher in Boykins Elenentary School. Mrs. Woodard had a lifelong love of music and was an avid pianist. She enjoyed sharing her musical talent with her friends and community throughout her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Shannon Woodard Vick of Newsoms; son, Dennis Stafford Woodard of Boykins; and two grandchildren, Whithey Louise Vick and Dennis Michael Woodard.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
