Louis Daniel ``L.D.'' Lowe Sr., 84, died Nov. 19, 1999, at his home. 

Born in Bertie County, N.C., he was the son of the late William Patrick and Mollie Greene Lowe and the widower of Mary Seeley Lowe. Mr. Lowe was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Pulp Mill Department of Union Camp Corporation after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Delaware Hunt Club and the Loyal Order of Moose. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include a son, Louis Daniel Lowe Jr. of Franklin; a sister, Louise Lowe Sawyer of Franklin; and three grandchildren, Angel Renee Lowe, Trent Daniel Lowe and Brandon Christian Lowe. 

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in High Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. toda at Hunterdale United Church of Christ and suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Mary Frances Newsome, P.O. Box 937, Franklin VA or High Street UMC, 301 W. First Ave., Franklin VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
