Minnie Carroll Burgess Marks of the 100 block of St. James Ave., a retired elementary schoolteacher, died April 16, 1992, in a hospital. 

Mrs. Marks was born in Southampton County. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include two daughters, Becky M. Scott of Mount Dora, Fla., and Martha A. Dobyns of Roanoke; two sisters, Bessie R. Burgess of Suffolk and Jane B. Edwards of Capron; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Eugene Jones and the Rev. Jimmy Grimmer. Burial will be in Capron Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
