Ashley Matthew Vaughan, 83, died Jan. 23, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Vaughan was a son of the late Hillary Lee and Mary Jane Gardner Vaughan, and widower of Lillian Brock Vaughan. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served with the 29th Division at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired supervisor at St. Regis Paper Co. and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Bettie Leigh Vaughan; a son, Kenneth Ashley Vaughan; a sister, Mary Frances Marshall of Richmond; several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by two sisters, Emily V. Howell and Jessie V. Darden; and two brothers, H. Cecil Vaughan and H. Leroy Vaughan.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m Sunday in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. Dr. Regional Warren. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home.
