Jean Newsome McWilliams, 52, a native and former resident of Franklin, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at her residence. 

She was the daughter of the late Sidney C. and Helen Burgess Newsome and the widow of Bobby Joe McWilliams. Jean was a retired X-ray technician from Southampton Memorial Hospital and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. 

Survivors include a sister, Romine Newsome and a brother, Sidney C. Newsome Jr. and his wife, Rose, all of Windsor; two nephews, Sidney Michael Newsome of Carrsville and Kenneth Callie Newsome of Windsor. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Edmund Pickup officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
