HATTIE M. FELTS
Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 19, 2004 
Hattie Moore Felts, 86, widow of R. Marvis Felts Sr., passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004, with her family by her side. 

Born July 18, 1917, in Sutherlin, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charlie Moore and Ruby Pruitt Moore. She was a graduate of State Teachers College (Longwood). In 1958, along with her husband, she cofounded the R.M. Felts Packing Co. where she worked as secretary-treasurer for 45 years until her retirement; was a former teacher at Ivor Elementary School; was a lifelong active member of Ivor Baptist Church; was a charter member of Ivor Rescue Squad and a member of the IRS Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Felts served as trustee at Averett College; was a member of the Hawaiian Baptist School Mainland Advisory Council; was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. "Miss Hattie" was loved and served the Lord with a life dedicated to Christian service, family and church. 

She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son, Robert M. Felts Jr. and wife Carol Jean of Ivor; daughter, Sue Felts Kitchen and husband Vance of Midlothian; stepson, Gregory Wood of Maryland; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Butler and husband Lawrence, Nora Soloman and husband Weldon and a brother, Jimmy Moore and wife June, all of Alton, Va.; sisters-in-law, Louise Felts, Nellie Moore, Brenda Moore and Elsie Moore; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ivor Baptist Church, Ivor, officiating by the Rev. Steve Gupton, pastor of Ivor Baptist Church Church and Dr. Horace Twine, former pastor of Ivor Baptist Church and lifelong family friend. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. A committal service will be held in Ivor Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at other times at the residence of Bob and Carol Jean Felts on 33013 Seacock Chapel Road, Ivor. Memorial donations to honor "Miss Hattie" may be made to Ivor Baptist Church, P.O. Box 310, Ivor, VA 23866 or to Millfield Baptist Church for Missions to Spread Gods Word, 11225 Ivor Road, Ivor VA 23866.
