SUFFOLK Marietta Moore Everett, 90, of the 200 block of Pinner St., died Dec. 16, 2003. A native of Chuckatuck, she was the daughter of the late William Charles Moore and the late Florence Ligon Moore. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Long Everett.
Mrs. Everett was a graduate of Chuckatuck High School and attended Elon College. In the 1940s, she was employed by Suffolk City School to manage The Teacherage, a residential facility for school teachers. First a member of Oakland Christian Church, she later joined the Suffolk Christian Church, where she was an active member for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her husbands daughter, Jane Everett Norfleet, his granddaughter, Ann Scott Norfleet Adams and his grandson, Edward Everett Norfleet; her sister-in-law, Esta Everett Kincaid; two sisters, Martha Moore Savage and Addie Rawls Moore Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at R.W. Baker Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, the funeral will take place at Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suffolk Rescue Squad of the Suffolk Christian Church.
