She is survived by one son, Monty Berle Morris and his wife Yoko Yamamoto of San Francisco, CA; two sisters, Amorette Turner of Pamplico, S.C. and Mabel McNair of Hartsville, S.C.; one brother, Richmond Wilhoit of Florence, S.C. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the following family members; one son, Randall Allen Morris, three sisters, Charleton Sykes, Nannie Edwads and Louise Wilhoit, four brothers, Cecil Wilhoit, E.Q. Wilhoit, Monty Wilhoit and Clarence Wilhoit, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. and at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va. on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Franklin, Va. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Wright Funeral Home. MABEL ARLENE WILHOIT CARTER McNAIR 11-09-1915 11-11-2014 Mrs. Mabel Arlene Wilhoit Carter McNair, 99, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at home after a long illness. She was attended by her caregiver, DeeDee Peterson, and her niece, Cornelia Poston. Mabel was born in Richmond, Va. On Nov. 9, 1915. She was the daughter of Clarence Ezekiel and Nancy Belle Fiers Wilhoit. One of eleven children, she was predeceased by her husbands, Allan Carter and Carl McNair; siblings, Monty Ray, Louise, Cecil Thornton, Clarence Jr., E.Q., Nannie, Richmond, Charleston and Caroline. She was a graduate of LaSalle Extension University. She is survived by her sister, Amorette Turner; son, Allan Wilhoit Carter and daughter-in-law, Joyce M. Carter; grandchildren, Courtney Arensdorf, Thomas Purvis, Sandra Wasson; great-grandchildren, Tori Hanson, Corey Irving, Aliya Wallace, Terra Purvis, Jennifer Wasson; and 27 nieces and nephews.
