Morris FRANKLIN - Ruby Hall Morris, 72, a longtime resident of Franklin and Southampton County, died Sept. 17, 2003 at Lake Taylor Hospital in Norfolk. Born in New Bern, N.C., she was a daughter of the late John Allen and Pattie Williams Hall and the widow of William Britton Morris. Ruby was a graduate of Franklin High School, worked for the Franklin Southampton County School Board, Virginia Dept. of Highways and Union Camp Corporation, from which she retired in 1985. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and was an active member of her circle and United Methodist Women. Survivors include two stepsons, Allan Morris and wife Valerie of Franklin and Marcus Morris and wife Jennifer of Bolivia; a sister, Gail H. Tawney and husband Dick; and a brother, Charles D. Hall and wife Greta, all of Franklin; seven stepgrandchildren, Sara Power, Joshua, Brittany, Brooke, John, Hannah and Seth Morris; three nieces, Sheryl Rawls of Gatesville, Charla Darden and husband Roy of Franklin and Shea Beaver and husband Jack of Suffolk; five nephews, John Hall of Franklin, Jeffrey Hall and wife Amanda of Germantown, Md., Michael Tawney and wife Meg of Salisbury, Md., William Tawney and wife Janice and Allen Lowe and wife Carolyn, all of Franklin; great-nieces and -nephews, Kevin Lowe and wife Crissey of Georgetown, S.C., Carrie Lowe of Raleigh, N.C., Erin Lowe of Franklin, Kelsey Daughtrey of Suffolk, Crystal Darden of Franklin, Shea Tawney of Salisbury, Md., and Jordan Belle Tawney and Will Tawney of Franklin. Ruby was predeceased by two sisters, Irma Hall Bell and Frances Hall Lowe; and two brothers, Elmer K. Hall and John Allen Hall Jr. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Linda Alvis and the Rev. Edward Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. prior to the funeral at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to any charity that benefits children.
