Doris Morris Bryant, 75, departed this life March 6, 2003, after a long and courageous battle against a painful neurological disease. Above all else, she was a devoted a loving mother to her children.
Mrs. Bryant was born and raised in Wakefield, but made her home, and raised her family in Courtland . A graduate of Wakefield High School, she retired after 15 years in medical records and billing at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Doris had been a member of Courtland United Methodist Church since 1946. In addition to her many wonderful talents, she was an accomplished seamstress.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by a daughter, Carol Bryant Biggers and husband, James of Richmond; a son, Mills Robert "Robbie" Bryant III; three grandchildren, Maria Biggers, Chris Biggers and Amy Zona; a great-grandson, Duncan Zona; a brother, Dennis E. Morris of Wakefield; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth O. Morris; an aunt; two uncles; and a large and supportive family of in-laws and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Mills Robert Bryant Jr.; her sister, Jane M. Frith; and her brother, Garland C. Morris.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Courtland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery . The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Memorials may be made to Courtland United Methodist Church, 22416 Main St., Courtland , VA 23837.
