Born in Eure, N.C., he was a son of the late Ruben M. and Elizabeth Cullins Mulder. He was the owner of Jake's Guttering and Vinyl Siding and Jake's Bait and Tackle. He was a member of Gates County and White Oak Hunt Clubs, and was a member of Eure Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Peggy Cross Mulder; two daughters, Carolyn E. Mulder of Franklin and Janet M. Joyner and her husband Glenn of Newsoms; two sons, R. Marshall Mulder III and his wife Trisha, and Gerald H. Mulder, all of Franklin; a sister, Sallie Meetter Landen of Dunn, N.C.; three granddaughters, Ashley, Lauren and Sara Story; thee stepgrandchildren, Clifton Carr, Katie Joyner and Taylor Joyner; and three nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
