Survivors include his father, George Dewey Mumford of Salisbury, N.C.; his mother, Thelma Underwood Mumford of Chesapeake; a sister, Sharon Kay Mumford of Chesapeake; and two brothers, Donald Alan Mumford of Virginia Beach and George Dewey Mumford, Jr. of Zuni. A graveside service was to be conducted at 2 p.m., Sept. 17, in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. James Tate and James Christy will officiate.
