Lydia Vance Neamond, 74, of the 7900 block of Merritt St., died Oct. 30, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center. 

Mrs. Neamond was born in Grundy, Va., and was the daughter of the late Miles L. and Victoria Cook Vance. She was the widow of James A. Neamond Sr. She was a Protestant. 

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Miller of Franklin and Carolyn Miller of Norfolk; a sister, Laura Horn of Portsmouth; a brother, Leo Vance of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Derrick "Rick" Miller, Stacye Miller, Debbie Hoke and Schuller A. "Buddy" Miller Jr. She was predeceased by a son, James A. Neamond Jr. and a grandson, David M. Miller. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin, with Ed Coggsdale officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
