Mrs. Nelms was born in Southampton County. She was the widow of Silas R. Nelms and was a member of Boykins Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Silas R. Nelms Jr. of Manchester, Tenn.; two sisters, Inez Barnes and Creathie Taylor, both of Boykins; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
