Doris Pope Nelms, 86, of the 18000 block of Virginia Ave. and a retired nurse, died March 17, 1992, in a Franklin hospital.  
Mrs. Nelms was born in Southampton County. She was the widow of Silas R. Nelms and was a member of Boykins Baptist Church.  
Survivors include a son, Silas R. Nelms Jr. of Manchester, Tenn.; two sisters, Inez Barnes and Creathie Taylor, both of Boykins; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Beechwood Cemetery by the Rev. Phil Motley. McDowell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
