Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 5, 1999 

Emily Nelms Turner, 88, a resident of Windsor, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Nansemond Pointe, Suffolk. 

She was the widow of George Wilbur Turner Sr. and the daughter of the late Joseph Nelms and Annie Vaughan Nelms. Mrs. Turner was a member of Millfield Baptist Church, Ivor, and the Women's Fellowship Union. 

Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughter, Catherine T. Lilley and husband, Rufus Dale [Turner], of Suffolk; a son, G.W. Turner Jr. and wife, Jessie, of Franklin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Bobby Dale Lilley. 

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Steve McGlamery officiating. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Millfield Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
